The Black Lagoon Nebula Project

The Black Lagoon Nebula Project

The Black Lagoon Nebula Project explores an imagined cosmic landscape through mixed media art. Resin, mica, sand, paint, and grout bring texture and layered surfaces to these abstract canvases.

This is also the imagined home of my Creature from the Black Lagoon Nebula. The paintings and sculpture belong to the same strange world, with different ways to invite you into it.

A landscape with room for imagination

I use abstraction to suggest a place without defining every part of it. Texture gives the eye something to follow. Shimmer and luminous details change which forms stand out under different lighting.

The result leaves room for your own interpretation. You might find a distant landscape, a watery depth, or a world that feels familiar for a moment before becoming strange again.

Meet the creature

The sculptural inhabitant of this imagined nebula.

Follow the changing light

The three photographs of GNC: 2.2017 offer different ways to see the same canvas. Ordinary light reveals its color and surface. Blacklight shows its response to ultraviolet illumination. The glow photograph captures luminous details in darkness.

Compare the views and notice how your attention moves. Then return to the other canvases and look for details you may have passed over the first time.

Keep exploring this strange world

The Black Lagoon Nebula Project connects my cosmic canvases with my love of unusual creatures. Together, the works invite curiosity about both a place and the character that might live there.
