A Slice of the Universe brings imagined cosmic terrain into sculptural mixed media art. I build depth through textured materials, resin, and mica, creating surfaces that offer more to explore than a flat image.
The project includes a rectangular work on canvas and a circular sculpture on wood. Their photographs show how different lighting changes the encounter with each piece.
Giving an imagined universe a surface
Sand, clay, concrete, rocks, and other materials contribute to the project’s layered terrain. Resin and mica add another dimension to those surfaces, while luminous pigments reveal a different appearance in darkness.
These are artistic interpretations of the cosmos. Their textures invite curiosity about shape, depth, and the landscapes we imagine beyond our own world.
